1. What MyChessPlace provides

MyChessPlace is an online chess education platform. It may include courses, interactive lessons, downloadable files, quizzes, exercises, game analysis tools, practice opponents, and other educational features.

We may add, modify, replace, suspend, or discontinue features, including free features such as bots, game-review tools, quizzes, analysis tools, or other training features, at our discretion.

We do not guarantee any specific rating gain, tournament result, or performance improvement.

2. Account registration

Some features require an account. You must provide accurate information, keep your login details secure, and not share paid content or downloaded course files with others.

3. Age requirement

MyChessPlace is intended for users aged 16 and above. Purchases may only be made by a person aged 18 or over, or by a parent/legal guardian acting on a minor's behalf.

4. Who you are buying from

When purchases are enabled, purchases made through MyChessPlace will be sold and processed by Paddle.com as the Merchant of Record.

Paddle handles payment processing, applicable sales tax or VAT, invoicing, and payment-side refund processing. We remain responsible for course content and operation of the platform.

If these Terms and Paddle's buyer terms conflict in relation to the payment transaction itself, Paddle's terms govern that transaction to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in this section limits mandatory consumer rights.

5. Prices, payments, and taxes

Courses are sold as one-time purchases unless we clearly state otherwise.

Prices are shown on the relevant course page. Applicable taxes may be added based on your location, and the final amount payable will be shown before you complete your purchase.

Prices and offers may change over time; changes do not affect purchases already completed.

6. Access, fulfilment, downloads, and licence

After the payment provider confirms a successful purchase, access to the purchased course is intended to be activated automatically without unnecessary delay.

If access is not activated shortly after payment confirmation, contact [email protected] and we will investigate and restore access where appropriate.

When you buy a course, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use it for your own learning for as long as we make the platform available.

Where a course includes downloadable files such as videos and PGNs, you may download and keep them for personal use. We recommend downloading your own copy.

You may not copy, publish, share, resell, redistribute, upload elsewhere, or use course files to create competing products.

Your licence ends if your order is refunded or your account is terminated for breach of these Terms.

7. Refunds and withdrawal rights

Paid course purchases are covered by our separate Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

We currently offer a 30-day money-back guarantee from the date of purchase for paid courses. Refund requests may be made by contacting [email protected] or directly through the merchant of record's buyer-support channels where available.

Approved refunds are processed through the payment provider or merchant of record back to the original payment method.

Our voluntary guarantee does not limit mandatory consumer rights.

Where required, the merchant of record may provide additional statutory cancellation or withdrawal information during checkout.

8. Educational content and chess tools

Chess evaluations, quizzes, analysis, and practice opponents are educational tools and may not always be perfect or complete.

9. Course updates and changes

We may update, improve, reorganise, add to, replace, or remove parts of our courses to improve the learning experience, correct mistakes, or keep material relevant.

We do not intend to remove substantial parts of a paid course in a way that materially reduces the value of what you purchased. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

10. Uploaded games and PGNs

You keep ownership of what you upload. You give us permission to store, process, display, and analyse uploaded games as needed to provide the requested features.

Uploaded games are private by default unless you choose a sharing/public feature.

11. Acceptable use

You must not use MyChessPlace illegally, attempt to hack or disrupt the platform, redistribute paid content, scrape the site, upload malicious code, access other users' data, or use the platform for assistance in live games or tournaments where outside help is prohibited.

You must also not abuse promotional offers, refunds, chargebacks, or repeated purchase-and-refund cycles in a fraudulent or bad-faith manner. Where we reasonably identify abuse, we may restrict future purchases, suspend an account, or decline purely voluntary remedies, while preserving any mandatory consumer rights that apply.

12. Intellectual property

The MyChessPlace website, courses, text, diagrams, exercises, videos, branding, design, and other materials are owned by or licensed to ONLINECHESSCOURSES S.R.L.

13. Service availability, feature changes, and possible closure

We aim to keep MyChessPlace available and working properly, but we do not guarantee that the platform or any individual feature will remain available indefinitely.

We may modify, replace, suspend, or discontinue platform features from time to time, including free features such as bots, game-review tools, quizzes, analysis tools, or other training features.

We do not guarantee permanent or lifetime online access to the MyChessPlace website or any individual platform feature.

If we decide to permanently discontinue MyChessPlace, we will, where reasonably practicable, provide existing customers with at least 60 days' advance notice by email, through the platform, or both.

During that notice period, customers who purchased courses that include downloadable files will be given a reasonable opportunity to download the files made available for those courses. Downloads may be provided through the user account, by email, or through another reasonable method.

Files lawfully downloaded before closure may continue to be used for personal learning in accordance with the licence granted under these Terms.

Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

14. Transfer or change of operator

We may transfer, assign, sell, or otherwise move the operation of MyChessPlace, or rights and obligations relating to the platform, to an affiliated company, purchaser, successor, or other service provider as part of a sale, reorganisation, merger, transfer of business, or similar transaction.

We will take reasonable steps to ensure that existing customer rights and access to purchased content are respected, subject to applicable law.

15. Account suspension or termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts for breach, misuse, security/legal risk, or where required by law.

Where we terminate a paid account for reasons that are not your fault, we will provide an appropriate remedy where required by law.

16. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of data, profits, opportunity, rating, or tournament results.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

17. Privacy

Your use of MyChessPlace is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

18. Complaints and dispute resolution

Contact us first at [email protected] or +40 774 114 909.

If we cannot resolve the matter, consumers in Romania may contact the Autoritatea Națională pentru Protecția Consumatorilor (ANPC). Consumers elsewhere in the EU may contact the relevant authority in their country.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes may be notified by email, through the platform, or by another reasonable method.

Changes will not retroactively reduce rights attached to purchases already completed, except where permitted by applicable law.

20. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania. EU consumers keep the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of their country of residence.
